Symmetrics Cycling wins its first NRC Stage
Race
Svein Tuft captured Symmetrics’ first
professional NRC ( National Race
Calendar) stage race win at the MT Hood
Cycling Classic in Hood River, OR (June
2-5, 2005). The team was impressed and
Svein was equally excited about his
performance:
"I have won stages before but I have
never been given the opportunity to be
the GC (general classifications) guy
until I signed with Symmetrics. I was
always the workhorse chasing down
breaks. It was such a great experience
to have a whole team protecting me
throughout the race. The only time I had
to ride in the wind was in the time
trials and the last few kilometres
today.”
The team’s form has been developing
since the Dodge Tour de Georgia and has
consistently improved in races like the
Mutual of Enumclaw Stage Race, BC Road
Race Championship and the Bastion Square
Criterium.

Tuft takes on Two-time World Mountain Bike
Champion Roland Green
The Bastion Square Criterium is always a
highlight for the Symmetrics team. The
Victoria, BC race brings thousands of
spectators, beautiful weather and a
spectacular backdrop. The team’s bike
sponsor, Norco, turned out a full show
to support the team, so it is no wonder
we were primed to race hard.
Ultimately, the race was a show down
between Canadian National Time Trial
Champion, Svein Tuft, and two time world
mountain bike champion, Roland Green.
The two riders broke away from the
remainder of the field and rode head to
head to the finish, with Green nipping
Tuft at the line by a half wheel. It was
a great ending for the Victoria crowd
who were cheering for the hometown boy,
Roland Green.

culminating 30+ hours of riding with a
spectacular stage race. Olympian Eric
Wohlberg and teammate Jacob Erker flew in
from California to compete in what turned
out to be a cold and wet weekend. Svein Tuft
