In an effort to get in shape for mountain bike racing, Cam Evans started road racing at the age of fifteen, but quickly abandoned his mountain bike to pursue road cycling on a full-time basis. He made the transition to a category one rider after winning a local category three race as well as nationally ranked cadet and junior races. Following a season of racing on the international circuit, and a stage win at the junior World Cup Tour de L-Abitibi, Cam signed with the Seattle based Broadmark Capital Elite team, racing in the US National Racing series. In 2002 Cam was selected for the 2nd time to represent Canada at the Junior World Championships and, in the fall of that year, he raced in Europe as a member of the Junior Domo Farm Frites team. In 2003, he earned his first professional victory at the International Tour de Toona. Cam had a strong showing in the 2004 racing season, with many first place finishes including the Canadian National Espoir Championships, the Canadian National Criterium Championships, the Grand Prix Aumale in France, and the Circuit des 3 Provinces stage 4 in France.

Cam sudies Human Kinetics at Langara College and plans to pursue a career in sports medicine. He is an avid snowboarder and surfer.
