Born and raised in Sussex, New Brunswick, Christian Meier is no stranger to hard work. He spent many years working on his family's farm, and although his first language was German, he quickly became proficient in English upon entering school, and even entered French immersion in grade five. Christian got his start racing cross-country mountain bikes and a year later added downhill mountain biking and road cycling to his repertoire. In 2002 he quit mountain biking to focus on road cycling full-time and, in 2003, he went to Belgium to race and train. Christian's efforts paid off when he made the Canadian National team in 2003, competing in the world championships in Hamilton, Ontario. Now living just metres from the team service course in Langley, Christian is moving into his fourth year with the team. He loves fine food and enjoys cooking, drinking coffee at the boss's house and watching movies.
